My Three Words for 2024

It’s that time of year again where I share my intentions for the new year. I do this using three words - although this year is a little different.

If you haven’t read anything on my three words before, it comes from Chris Brogan. I find it’s a great way to set my intentions for the year, they help keep me focused. In previous years the words were:

  • 2017 – Structure, Serve, Write

  • 2016 – Be, Push, Pull

  • 2015 – Build, Strong, Focus

  • 2014 – Brave, Calm, Connect

  • 2013 – Creating, Connecting, Consolidating

  • 2012 – Do, Share, Inspire

  • 2023 - Peace, Balance, More

  • 2022 - Persistent, Connected, Structured

  • 2021 – Flourish, Breathe, Dare

  • 2020 – Create, Grow, Well

  • 2019 – Aware, Brave, Creative

  • 2018 – Balance, Structure, Grow

Reflecting on 2023

Peace - while I am happy with the work I put in to trying to achieve this - the world seemed to have other plans. I’m not alone in this, 2023 seems to have been a difficult year for a LOT of people. Ultimately, I did manage to achieve some inner peace in some areas but, overall, I did not end the year feeling at peace.

Balance - revisiting 30 days of Balance for my sketchnote project was a nice reset on my thoughts about balance. I think there is a little more for me to examine about this now that a few other changes have occurred in my life. Overall, it started pretty well and the year ended very well with balance - the bit in the middle though was pretty challenging.

More - I feel like I definitely had some positive action around this word - but I also got more than I could handle as well. It was an interesting year in ways I could never have predicted, but I feel there was a LOT of growth in my skills, my business, my relationships and my mental health.

2024’s Three Words (with a twist)

Small grphic showing my three words for 2024 - which are all based on the word MAKE. System, time and things.

This year I have altered the concept a bit because this year is a big push for making in my world. The ideas are:

  • making systems that better support the ability for me to do my work and scale that as is required.

  • making time for creating, for my relationship and for the other important people in my life.

  • making things - a whole heap of things in all the areas I like to create in (things to sell, beautiful things, courses and informational things).

I’m excited about what I can achieve this year if I can keep the mindset I have started with. Watch this space for all the announcements :-)
